Itinerary

Saturday-Monday
Arrive in Managua, Beinvenido! Experience a taste of the capital city, it’s huge lake and Malecón. Then head north to León where we’ll explore their awe-inspiring churches, street art, and central park eateries. Before night fall we’ll make our way to dinner on the beach and enjoy the amazing Pacific surf and sounds of the beach at Las Peñitas.

Monday-Thursday
Experience two distinct volcanoes (and feelings) as we go from an exciting day of volcano boarding on northern Cerro Negro to the relaxing Laguna de Apoyo (this tranquil freshwater lake sits in a paradise jungle and is a volcano inverted that has become a lake). Relax in your hammock as monkeys call above. Swim in the lake’s refreshing crystal waters, try out stand up paddle-boarding (SUP), then sip smoothies of local fruits and dine on traditional Nica meals.9421869347_78d49bb915_z

Then we spend a day exploring colonial Granada and it’s brightly painted houses, exquisite churches, historical museums, and amazing central market. Your food tour of Nicaragua will take place in Granada as my local friend takes you to enjoy his favorite “regular” spots.

Thursday-Sunday
We head south for the Pacific Coast of San Juan del Sur (SJDS) to experience a bit more coastal life.
In San Juan del Sur we’ll see why this area is loved by surfers, take a few lessons, then horseback ride along the coast, eat fresh seafood, and finish each day watching the waves roll in under the sunset.

Our last day we’ll head back to the capital city of Managua and prepare you to meet your departure flights. Hasta Pronto Nicaragua!

Meet Your Guide

They both studied S2015-05-15 17.47.46panish, engaged in the culture and community and adventured around the country. During that time Martha worked with VivaNicaragua!-Center for Social Justice and Cultural Understanding connecting university students in service, cultural engagement and learning opportunities in the Granada community. It was then that she realized her love for this work and founded Nicaragua Immersion, with a mission to connect others who want to make friends in the community, learn Spanish, experience Nicaraguan culture, and its natural wonders up close.
